Biography

After obtaining a doctorate in microbiology from the University of Montreal under the direction of J. de Repentigny and P. Turgeon, Mario Jacques completed post-doctoral studies at the University of Calgary in the J.W. Costerton laboratory. In 1985 he was hired as an assistant researcher in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Université de Montréal. He is currently a full professor in this department and director of the strategic research cluster on optimal milk quality (Op+Lait). His research focuses on the study of virulence factors involved in colonization and in the formation of biofilms by pathogenic bacteria.
